News from Hollister Town Hall
Vonnie Mathiesen                     # 05
Assistant City Administrator                  May  2008

HELP SAVE THE BUTTERFLY… that is on display at Hollister Town Hall. Christian Action Ministries has a unique building capital campaign in progress. Nearly sixty-five area artists painted three foot high acrylic butterflies in themes that were close to their hearts. The beautiful butterflies will be auctioned off in October. Mrs. Judy Gross, who resides in Reeds Spring, selected the theme of “Hollister Heritage”. Each half of the butterfly wings has a scene depicting the heritage of the city.

The butterfly will be on display during the Founders Day celebration on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Donations to save the butterfly will be accepted.
BRICKS IN TOWN HALL SQUARE… the first order has arrived! It is never too late to place your brick order; this will be an ongoing project. Town Hall Square Park has a 400 foot natural rock wall, the 1912 St. James Street Bridge, a ¼ mile walking path that will be extended to the Train Depot and an entertainment stage. Vintage street lights will be placed along the trail. The area directly in front of Town Hall will be redesigned making easier access to the drive through window. The commemorative bricks will be laid as the final step in the park construction. The Commemorative Walkway in Town Hall Square Park will not be any ordinary walkway. It will be a walkway incorporating custom engraved bricks that will pay tribute to those we love and remember, military personnel, individuals, groups, events, and companies that have a special place in the heart of this community.

COUNTRY MART COMMUNITY CASH and HARTER HOUSE REGISTER RECEIPTS … keep sending or bringing them in when you pay your utility bill. Over the period of four years we have received near $6,000 in Country Mart Community Cash and over $200 in one year from Harter House.

Mr. Steve Roland, our Parks department employee, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Steve’s smile and his dedication to his job will be missed by his City of Hollister family.
