Ward I Alderman
David W. Honey has always had an interest in city
government.
In February of 2010, he decided it was time
to get involved with the community and city activities.
After witnessing the economic downfall, David decided it
was time to become a voice. David has had great
accomplishments in his time as a Hollister resident over
the past eight years. He has taken classes with San
Diego State University through an extended studies
program and received many certificates in Construction
Management. He is also OSHA certified for Industrial
Safety. During the time he was with a construction
management team, he helped develop a multi-complex that
contains condominiums, club house, sewers, roads, and
pools. David is currently working for a commercial
chemical company that deals with ware washing and
commercial laundries. He was elected as a Ward I
Alderman in April 2010.
WARD II ALDERMAN PHIL CARMAN, a
resident of Hollister for 32 years,
launched his
public service in 1990, when
he was first elected to the Hollister
Board of Aldermen. He ran for office
because of his affection for Hollister
and his concern that Hollister would
develop in ways that are beneficial to
its citizens. Prior to holding office,
Phil assisted the city's early efforts
to acquire a sanitary sewer system,
directed Hollister's first Old English Faire (1979-1980), and served on the
Hollister Business and Professional Association Executive Board. Phil says
that the most important
and difficultaspect of governance is the need to find
a balance between the needs of
individual citizens and those of the
community at large. He deeply believes that the greatness of America is due to
citizen legislators at every level of government, and he encourages people
to serve their community. Phil also
serves on the Hollister Planning and
Zoning Commission, serves as Chairman
of the TIFF Commission, is a member of
the Taney County Airport board and
represented Hollister on the OACAC Board
(2001-2003). Professionally retired,
Phil Carman is a Professor Emeritus of
College of the Ozarks where he was
Professor of English and the Director of
the Center for Writing and Thinking for 28 years. Currently he is a
pharmaceutical buyer and inventory
controller for a local pharmacy.
Ward II Alderman Dave Willard was
appointed in May 2004 by Mayor Tate to
fill the
vacated seat of Drew Smith who
moved to the State of Kansas. Willard
has been a member of the Planning and
Zoning Board since May 2001. Willard is
particularly interested in zoning issues
and the future
development of the City of Hollister.
Willard has been in the tour and travel business for
more than ten years. As an event planner and promotions
manger, his company has produced the Branson Blues
Festival since 2003. Willard spends his leisure time
fishing in the beautiful lakes of the Tri-Lakes.
